Trying Sushi

Bucket list item number 29 is try sushi, and once again my friend, Lauren, came to the rescue.  Lauren enjoys sushi and is well versed on the types of sushi and the best places to get sushi in my hometown.

We went out for lunch on Friday, so I could mark this item off my list.  I purchased the sampler platter, which had rolls (some of which had cooked fish and some had raw fish), rice topped with a thin strip of raw fish, and a cucumber salad with seaweed.  I tried everything on the plate.  The seaweed was different, but good.  The rolls were pretty decent.  However, I did not like the thin strips of raw fish.

We ordered an appetizer of chicken nachos with black beans.  That way I could have something to eat if the sushi was too much for me.  After trying the sushi, I ate the nachos for lunch.

About thirty minutes later, I started having stomach cramps and it was really painful.  I guess I shocked my system and it was not happy with me.  Then I started feeling warm on the inside, and in no time I felt like I was going to spontaneously combust.  My back even felt warm.

I ended up leaving work early.  I stopped at the store and bought Pepto Bismol and ice cream.  I thought the ice cream would help put out the growing fire inside my body.

I had never experienced this feeling before in my life.  I got home and fully expected to spend the next few hours in my bathroom.  However, after taking the medicine and eating the ice cream I felt much better.  Turns out I just had a bad case of heart burn.

I have eaten all kinds of foods and never had this happen before.  Does this mean I am getting old after all?
